Mexican Saguaro Cactus Paper Cutout Craft
The saguaro cactus, with its unique and memorable silhouette, has long been an iconic symbol of the dry desert landscape of Northern Mexico. Saguaros have a lifespan of more than 150 years and depend on bats for pollination! Saquaro cactus also provide important habitat for native Mexican bird species such Gila Woodpeckers and Elf Owls. Have fun making and coloring this paper cutout cactus and helping the birds find their home!
Supplies Needed

- Saguaro Cactus Mexican Craft template (Below)
- scissors
- glue stick
- crayons
Preparation
- Print out the Saguaro Cactus Mexican Craft template
- Allow kids to color their cactus and birds
- Cut out the cactus, Gila Woodpeckers and Elf Owls - cut the slits on the cactus base
- Have fun helping the birds build their nests! You can cut holes for nests, draw nests holes with crayone, or simply glue the birds to the cactus - whatever your kids want to do!
